STS-134: LAUNCH DELAYED

October 5th, 2010

It’s official: the Shuttle Endeavour launch new target date is February 27th, at 3:38 p.m. The decision is a direct consequence of the shuttle’s launch manifest updating, after the delay of the ATV 2-Kepler mission that will leave on the Ariane V on February 15th. Mission STS-134 and AMS-02 have therefore to wait a little bit more to reach the ISS.

INTRODUCING ELC, EVA AND UMA

A few days ago, on September 30th, the experiment was transported  to the Express Logistics Carrier (ELC) Rotation Stand where we’re going to verify all the mechanical and electrical connections between the Shuttle and the ISS. Integration activities were devoted to the installation of the interface panel for the Extra Vehicular Activities’ (EVA) cables and to their routing. AN AMS-02 FORERUNNER ON THE LAUNCHPAD

The AMS laptop that will support AMS-02 during  its lifetime, will soon reach the Space Station. At 1:49 a.m. on September 21 the Shuttle Discovery completed the rollout from KSC’s Vehicle Assembly Building, safely reaching the launch pad, where it will wait till November 1 to take off for its last and final mission, the STS-133. Beside its most important, large  payload (the Permanent Multipurpose Module), it will also bring on the ISS the AMS laptop, the precious backup system
